  • Dobsonville residents are demanding the arrest of suspects who raped and killed a grandmother and in addition raped her granddaughter.
  • Residents blocked the Elias Motsoaledi Street within the township.
  • Police have confirmed that they’re investigating a case of homicide and two others of rape.

Residents of Dobsonville, Soweto, took to the streets on Monday, demanding the arrest of suspects who raped and killed a grandmother and in addition raped her granddaughter.

The incident occurred on Friday on the victims’ residence.

Johannesburg Metro Police Division spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar stated protesters had blocked the busy Elias Motsoaledi Street within the space.

Minnaar stated JMPD officers have been monitoring the state of affairs and that nobody had been arrested.

Gauteng police spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters stated they’re investigating a case of homicide and two others of rape.

Peters has appealed to anybody with data to come back ahead and help the police in apprehending the suspects.

“It’s alleged that on 17 July, unknown suspects gained entry to a home in Dzana Avenue, Dobsonville, after breaking the burglar bar and entered by the sliding door.

“One suspect who was allegedly armed with a weapon then raped the 21-year-old sufferer whereas the second suspect raped and severely assaulted the 61-year-old grandmother in a separate bed room.

“The grandmother who was severely injured, was rushed to close by Tshepo-Themba Clinic the place she was declared lifeless on arrival,” Peters stated.

Peters stated a staff of investigators, led by detectives from the specialised Household Violence, Youngster Safety and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS), have been urged to work across the clock and to make use of each obtainable useful resource to make sure that the suspects are discovered and dropped at guide.

Peters stated they haven’t made any arrests.

Gauteng appearing provincial commissioner Main Normal Johan Ndlovu has ordered the “pressing mobilisation of most sources in the direction of discovering the suspects”.
