Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula has been below hearth after a remark he made at his media briefing on Thursday.
In his briefing to the media and South Africans, he spoke on his division’s newest measures to curb the unfold of Covid-19.
Mbalula is receiving backlash for what media has perceived as an insensitive Covid-19 “joke”.
Nevertheless, Mbalula warned that the virus is now not a “principle”.
Mbalula stated: “It hits at residence, takes your spouse when you’re busy speaking within the streets, ‘Mbalula Minister of Transport, yada-yada,’ Nozuko dies at residence.”
A social media consumer criticized Mbalula, saying: “It is a slap within the face to everybody who handed away from the virus and the survivors who fought tooth and nail to outlive Covid-19. Households are grieving due to this factor. So insensitive.”
One other consumer referred to as the video “distasteful”, saying there was nothing humorous about dying.
